You know, I have been thinking a lot about the things I write and how I work hard to make sure each post either makes you think or smile or both. And yet I hardly ever get any comments on my blog.
This makes me sad.
I work really hard on these posts and to not see even a ‘You can do better kiddo,’ is kinda rough on my feelings. (Yes, Captain Hysterical has feelings)
My Blog Guru suggested I should comment more on other blogs but in my head, I ask myself why since no one ever comments on mine. I know it doesn’t make it right, and that someone has to be the bigger person, but why does it have to be me?
Anyways, what types of posts make you want to respond? Do you get views and no responses too? How go you handle it? Do I have to bribe you? (I am not beneath it yanno 🙂 )
Just looking for some clarity here people, help a blogger out….
Commenting is a rough one. We’ve all dealt with that! I took a bit of a blogging hiatus to think about why it is I do what I do. I zoomed out and realized I was becoming obsessed with blog statistics, comments, pageviews, uniques, feedback, and all of that. It’s hard to get people to make the extra effort to comment (especially when you post links of FB and it’s “easier” to comment there).
I scaled back and realized that I need to write not only for an audience, but for myself. I do want to reach people and have an impact, and the blog stats show that people are reading. But if I can even plant a seed, regardless of feedback, I feel good. Beyond that, I have chosen to not obsess as much, and write for the purpose of getting out the good stuff, rather than to satisfy my ego which wants praise and recognition. That said, I am making more efforts to let my presence be known on my fellow writers’ websites.
