That is the sound of my biological clock. Loud isn’t it? Imagine how loud it was in my head…. Yea, pretty deafening to say the least.

June 27, 2005 it calmed down some. Not a lot but some. All because the children I bore were both male. And I had requested a girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love these guys like you wouldn’t believe, but remind me again why I couldn’t have a girl? Granted, I am pretty sure NOW that I do not want someone else in my house PMSing with me but 6 years ago, yea I wanted to comb hair and by lace and ruffles.

August 22, 2011 I started keeping my grandson (yea, that’s another post) full time while his mother (my daughter, and another story) goes to school. I mean, I’m home anyway why not help out this young lady trying to do the right thing for her and her child. I mean, underneath all of this rough, sarcastic exterior is a sarcastic mother with a heart.

This little boy is sweeter than Southern Sweet Tea and pound cake on a Sunday after church. And I love him to pieces. Lord knows I do……howsumever……

My longing for a girl has ceased to exist.

My longing for more children has ended.

My biological clock has removed its own batteries.

It has ticked its last tock.

I now understand how my mother feels when my kids come to visit. And then go home.

I love spending my days with him, and being a blessing to his mother.

But I have forgotten toys, bottles, wipes, food….but never the baby or his car seat.

The 11 year gap between Senior and The Clones has rendered barren and all I can do now is enjoy this new found happiness in grandmotherhood (I said we would discuss this later).

And the best thing about it is……I have a new reason to drink wine.

Every.

Day.
